Chesham pub has licence revoked

The Elephant and Castle pub in Chesham has been banned from trading after its licence was revoked following allegations of cocaine being found on its premises.

The Elephant and Castle pub in Waterside had its licence withdrawn by Chiltern District Council's licensing committee, which had previously suspended it following a police raid in January.

The council's spokesman Rachel Prance said: "Following an investigation by the police of a serious crime which allegedly took place at the pub, the license for the Elephant and Castle has been revoked. This will come into affect as soon as the period for the right of appeal lapses. The current suspension of the license remains in place so the pub cannot trade."

The pub, which has 21 days to appeal the decision, would have to successfully reapply for a licence before it could resume trading.

A 54-year-old man arrested has been charged with possession of a class A drug. A 28-year-old woman was released without charge.
