Wood helps Wycombe on way to York win

SUMMER signing Sam Wood was on target as Wycombe got their League Two promotion push off to a winning start with victory at York.

Matt Bloomfield broke the deadlock just before the half-hour mark and Wanderers doubled their lead on the stroke of half-time through former Brentford man Wood's long-ranger.

Stuart Beavon put them out of sight eight minutes after the break, and although Jason Walker pulled one back for the hosts, it couldn't stop Wycombe running out worthy winners.
