ANDY Leese wants his side to show the same midweek battling spirit when they travel to Swindon Supermarine on Saturday.
The Generals shipped four league goals, the first time in Leese’s reign, in a home defeat to Bedford on Saturday and faced a tricky away trip to relegation-threatened Evesham on Tuesday night.
With one of the poorest away records in the division it looked a potential banana skin for United but goals from Inih Effiong and James Potton sealed a vital 2-0 win that lifted them back into the Evo-Stik Premier Division top five.
Leese takes his side to another basement side this weekend with a trip to Wiltshire to take on Swindon Supermarine and is calling on a similar mental focus from his side to continue to hold off Stourbridge and Leamington and stay fifth.
“In terms of the mental approach for the Swindon game it will be very similar to Tuesday night,” he said. “We need to replicate what we did against Evesham.
“It is an important game, as they all are at the moment, and the time for talking is coming to an end. We are in the business end of the season now and are in the hotseat in the table.
“It is up to us to keep putting points on the board and cement our play-off spot as soon we can.”
