Leese: 'Time to prove we belong at the top'

Andy Leese

ANDY Leese expects his players to be ‘raring to go’ when they take to the field for the first time in 11 days.

Chesham United have had two matches postponed – the Berks and Bucks cup clash with Slough on Tuesday because of a frozen pitch and last weekend’s league game because Weymouth were in FA Trophy action. So Leese held a training session on Saturday to keep his side sharp.

Wins for their promotion rivals resulted in the Generals dropping into sixth place in the Evo-Stik Premier Division.

Stourbridge (seventh) visit the Meadow this weekend, with Leese setting a challenge to reclaim a spot in the top five.

“We talked about the possibility of dropping out of the top five,” he said. “We only have ourselves to blame because our points return has not been good enough in the last four or five games. Psychology is important for players and they will want to respond. We have the belief that we belong at the top of the table and it is up to us to prove it.”
