CHESHAM United have launched an appeal against the decision to make them replay their abandoned league match with Redditch.
The controversial game was halted when the referee was allegedley struck by an opponent with Chesham leading 1-0 and about to take a penalty.
After weeks of deliberation, the Evo-Stik League decided to replay the game rather than award United the points.
That decision angered the club who today announced they have lodged an appeal.
A club statement said: “Our own feelings and the feedback we continue to receive leave us uncomfortable with the possible ramifications of the decision to replay the game and, therefore, believe it is the right thing to do to assist with ensuring, what we believe to be, the correct precedent is set for the good of the game.”
The club insist they will make no further comment and have removed any forum posts about the subject on their official site to avoid hampering their appeal.
