CHESHAM United boss Andy Leese was delighted with their thumping opening pre-season win on Friday night.
The Generals blitzed Crystal Palace youth team 5-1 with new signing Simon Thomas netting a brace and Steve Wales also scoring two goals in the win.
"It was a good workout," said Leese. "We were able to get the ball down and pop it around and I am delighted. We are probably a little bit ahead of where I thought we would be at this stage in terms of the tempo.
"I was pleased with the lads who went on and the lads who are on trial did well. I thought we did both sides of the game well. We retained the ball well and pressed it well and were excellent out of possession."
United continue their pre-season campaign at Burnham on Saturday.
