Chesham snap up Rams defender Bernard

Ryan Bernard

CENTRE-BACK Ryan Bernard has made the switch from Beaconsfield SYCOB to Chesham United and will go straight into the squad for the Generals' home game with Halesowen tonight.

The 25-year-old defender was without a club after the demise of Windsor & Eton and had been helping ex-boss Dave Mudge try and turn around SYCOB's fortunes in Division One Central.

But a Premier League promotion push was too hard to turn down and Generals boss Andy Leese said he will add some cover at the back.

He said: "I have known of Ryan for some years now and at 6ft 3ins he has good presence and plenty of experience for a relatively young player.

"He will provide us with what we need as we enter the business end of the season and, subject to the paperwork, he will go into the squad tonight."

Sam Ledger (ankle) is still sidelined while Danny Gudgeon is taking park in a charity climb of Mount Kilamanjaro.

Dave Fotheringham (knee) and Paul Robinson (hamstring) are still out but could return to training this week.
