Two out and three in for United

GOALKEEPER Bobby Smith and Scotland U17 international Lewis Halford have left Chesham United in search of first-team opportunities.

Smith, 22, spent much of last season on loan at Northwood and has joined AFC Hornchurch with 18-year-old Halford signing for Biggleswade Town after failing to break into the United first-team.

He joined the Generals after a successful summer trial after being released by Conference side Rushden & Diamonds.

But United boss Andy Leese has brought in three new players to help his side build on their impressive start to the Southern Premier Division.

Goalkeeper Joe Pursell, 23, will provide cover for number one stopper Shane Gore with defender Chris Riley, 22, and versatile midfielder and forward James Potton, 23, also joining ranks at The Meadow.

Leese said: "We have good competition for places across the squad, and good back up with Geoff Glasgow (reserve team boss). It has undoubtedly helped us get the promising start we have had to the season."
