CHESHAM United are hosting their Community Open Day on Saturday with free entry to their final home pre-season friendly against Hendon.

The game will see the two clubs battle it out for the David Stanley Memorial Shield, named after former Suburban League chairman and stalwart for Hendon and Chesham who died in June.

Gates at The Meadow will open at 1pm with businesses and organisations from the town setting up stalls and other attractions on offer.

United chairman Alan Calder said: "David had an amazing passion for football at all levels and worked tirelessly on behalf of so many clubs to help them continue playing the sport he so loved.

"His knowledge of the game at this level is second to none. It is fitting on a day when we will be opening our club up to the local community that he should be remembered and honoured.”

United have been in good pre-season form with wins over Thurrock, Potters Bar Town and Slough Town.

It will be the last chance home fans get to see the Generals before they begin life back in the Southern Premier Division with a trip to Truro City.
