Harrison Simmons
HARRISON Simmons has qualified to represent Buckinghamshire at U13 level in the 2012 Butterfly Schools Individual Table Tennis Championships National Final.
Simmons, a pupil at Dr Challoner’s Grammar School in Amersham, will be one of more than 300 players representing 50 counties at the Dome, in Doncaster, on Saturday, with prizes up for grabs in four different age groups (U11, U13, U16 and U19) for both boys and girls.
All primary and secondary schools are eligible to enter players in the county rounds in order to qualify for these finals.
This is the largest one day event in the table tennis calender in England, and following these championships, the English School Table Tennis Association will select representative teams to play in an Invitation International on June 22-24.
Simmons, a member of Cippenham Table Tennis Club, was one of four qualifiers last weekend at the southern regionals, held at the club he attends.
He now goes on to represent the southern region, at U14 level, in the Butterfly National Table tennis championships in Wolverhampton on June 10/11.
