Chesham CC U10s win play-off final

CHESHAM CC U10s completed a memorable first season in the Bucks Cricket Board’s county competition by winning the league play-off final against Cublington.

Finishing top of their division and winning a semi-final against Buckingham left them scheduled to play Cublington during finals day at Stowe.

This, along with a couple of other attempts to play the game, were thwarted by the weather but eventually a date in mid September was finalised.

Chesham batted first and played steadily all the way through. Only losing three wickets was key in this pairs format, as just 18 runs would be deducted from their score, leaving them with a total of 279.

As always, there was a key contribution from player of the year Dominic Goodman, but it was the responsible manner in which the whole team batted that laid the platform for victory.

Cublington started steadily, maintaining the required run rate, but wickets eventually started to tumble and this left the last pair needing to score at 10 an over.

The winning margin was eventually 39 runs.
