Buckinghamshire U11s (234-3) drew with Essex U11s (251-8)
BUCKS U11s bowlers were put to the sword by Essex U11s in their latest county clash at Buckingham Town CC – and forced to chase down a big 45-over total.
Although they stuck manfully to their task, they found it hard to contain the Essex batsmen, who rattled along at five or six runs an over throughout.
There were two wickets apiece for Tom Darling (2-36 from six overs) and Joseph Bowden (2-41 from eight), while there was one each for Jamie Franks (1-45 from eight overs), Musa Umar (1-30 from four) and Charlie Williams (1-27 from five).
The wickets at least put a brake on Essex's innings, but it made little difference to the outcome as Bucks had to settle for a losing draw, despite losing only three wickets in their knock.
At least new captain Philip Lloyd enjoyed an unforgettable day. The Amersham CC player from The Beacon School finished unbeaten on 106 – way ahead of the next best scorer Tom Line (29).
