Blues stun Pompey in JPT

Portsmouth 1-3 Wycombe

WYCOMBE upset the odds and continued their revival by knocking League One Portsmouth out of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

Wanderers headed to the south coast on the back of their first win since the opening day of their League Two season and showing signs of improvement.

But they powered past Pompey at Fratton Park with a superb display.

Their evening got off to the perfect start when Joel Grant collected the ball from Jo Kuffour and curled a shot into the top corner after just 13 seconds.

Blues were on fire and doubled their lead on eight minutes when Dean Morgan prodded home after a goalmouth scramble.

Pompey responded and levelled on the stroke of half-time through Izale McLeod but Wycombe continued to dominate after the break.

Morgan added a third on the hour mark when he nodded home after his penalty was saved by Portsmouth goalkeeper Simon Eastwood.
