Doherty named new Blues skipper

EXPERIENCED defender Gary Doherty has been named the new captain at Wycombe Wanderers.

The 32-year-old former Ireland international takes the armband from midfielder Gareth Ainsworth, who will spend the majority of the season in a coaching role, after signing a permanent deal last week.

Midfielder Matt Bloomfield, who is approaching 300 games for Wanderers, will be vice-captain.
