GARY Waddock blasted his players for their 'unacceptable' defending in their hammering at Brentford.
A 5-2 defeat in west London took their goals conceded tally for January to 16 as Wanderers slumped to the bottom of League One.
It was a bitter pill for Waddock to swallow after the win over Rochdale last weekend and he tore into his players after a shocking first-half display handed Brentford a three-goal headstart.
“We took quite a big one forward last week and took a few back again today,” he said. “Whatever level you play at that was unacceptable.
“There were too many deliveries in our box and when it came into our box we didn't mark and that is why we conceded the goals we did.
“It is very frustrating but this keeps cropping up quite regularly. We set out stall out today with a formation to be solid but you would never have guessed it.
“We didn't compete and never got near them and it was a very poor performance in the first-half. We made it easy for them.
“You can't allow teams to get a scoreline like that in the first-half and then, all of a sudden, step up a level or two. You have to start games like that.”
