Hull midfielder Harper excited to make Blues debut

ON-LOAN Hull City midfielder James Harper was unable to hide his excitement about the chance to play first-team football for Wycombe on Saturday.

The 31-year-old is hoping to put a nightmare spell at the Tigers behind him after signing a one-month deal at Adams Park.

Harper has not featured for Hull since coming on as an 87th minute substitute in their 1-0 win at Notts Forest in October and has only played 90 minutes in their August Carling Cup defeat to Macclesfield.

And the midfielder admits it has been the hardest spell of a successful career that has seen him celebrate promotion to the Premier League with Reading.

“I have been playing reserves but I need to play because it has been six months and it has been doing my head in,” he said.

“This is the first time it has every happened to me and no-one even told me why. I think there was a bit going on behind the scenes and it has been the worst two years of my career.

“I just can't wait to play because I have missed it so much. At the weekends I was sitting at home, cleaning the garage or talking to the missus and she was doing my head in so at least it gets me out of the house.”
