Opening day point pleases Waddock

Gary Waddock

GARY Waddock was delighted to start life back in League One with a hard-fought point.

The Blues boss watched his side ride their luck against Scunthorpe but battle to a 1-1 draw.

Goalkeeper Nikki Bull was again the shining light after his heroics saw him pick up where he left off last season with a string of wonderful saves frustrating a rampant Scunthorpe who finished the game strongly and looked to snatch all three points.

But Bull, and his stubborn team-mates, held on for a draw to leave Waddock delighted.

He said: “I am running out of things to sat about him (Bull). He was absolutely magnificent again.

Scunthorpe have come down from the Championship, they've got a lot of good players and are looking to bounce back.

The performance was good and it was an excellent point. We've stepped up a level and we've come up against a very good team.

You could see the difference between League One and League Two, but we weathered the storm and in little spells we were able to hurt them.”
