Benyon out for 'minimum' six weeks

Elliot Benyon

ELLIOT Benyon could miss the first five games of the season after being ruled out for six weeks with a broken hand.

The 23-year-old on-loan striker fell awkwardly on his left hand in training last week and had an operation to fix the injury on Tuesday.

Wanderers say six weeks is the 'minimum' time he will spend on the sidelines and that would keep him out until the trip to Huddersfield on August 27.

A club statement said: "Head of medical and sports science Stuart Ayles will work closely with the 23-year-old old over the next few weeks before he is given the all clear to return to full training."
