Gary Waddock
GARY Waddock has stressed how important it is for his side to show patience when they take on a Macclesfield side looking to shut up shop this weekend.
The Blues boss has seen his side draw their last four League Two outings and throw away late leads at Northampton and Accrington in recent weeks.
But hosting a struggling Silkmen side, still without a league win, looks like a great opportunity to get their season back on track with a home win.
But Macclesfield boss Gary Simpson has made no attempt to hide his approach to the game this weekend when he said: "We've tried to play a bit open and we haven't got the goals, or the points, that we think we should have got.
"We might have to go now to blocking it up a bit."
It means Waddock, his players, and the Adams Park crowd may have to wait for the floodgates to open.
The Wanderers boss said: "We need to be patient and if their manager has come out with those comments it probably gives us a fair idea of how they are going to approach the game.
"But we have to be able to cope with that. It is nice that it is a home game. We have had two difficult away trips so it is nice to come home.
"But there are no easy games and they have come off a defeat and will want to put that right."
Waddock tore into his side after throwing away a point in stoppage time at Accrington branding them 'unprofessional'.
But the Blues boss said his players were just as angry with the result and have responded with an excellent week's work on the training ground.
"You can't dwell on it and you have to move on," he said. "The players have showed again what a good group they are this week and now we have to make sure we take that on and start winning games.
"They were also unhappy and it shows that they care and are passionate about it which is no bad thing."
Alan Bennett is back in contention after recovering from a hamstring strain with midfielder Scott Davies in the squad for the game after signing a three-month loan deal from Reading yesterday.
