Beavon delighted to be back

STUART Beavon has his eyes set on a weekend goal to help complete his comeback from a broken leg.

The 26-year-old has battled back from the injury in the Berks & Bucks Cup Final in May and made his first appearance of the season with a 30 minute cameo in the 1-1 draw at Accrington last weekend.

He followed that up with a goalscoring 90 minutes for the reserves on Tuesday and feels he is ready to fire Wycombe towards the top three.

"I feel ready now to be honest and I want to get back involved," he said. "It has been massively frustrating because you don't want to miss pre-season because that is where you get the bulk of your fitness and then you are left playing catch up."

Blues boss Gary Waddock slammed his Wycombe players after conceding a stoppage time leveller at the Crown Ground.

And Beavon said the players shared his anger and are desperate to put it right.

He said: "All the lads were gutted but we have had a good week in training and just want to get out there and get the three points.

"It helps that we are playing at home and in front of our home fans and we are confident in ourselves."

It has been an equally frustrating summer for the former Weymouth front man who has watched strikers Scott Rendell and Ben Strevens join the club.

"When you see new strikers come into the club you just want to be out there showing what you can do. But I am back now and raring to go.

"I have scored a few goals in the reserves and just want to get out there and bang goals in for the first team now."
