Magpies overpowered by high-flying Hoddesdon

Hoddesdon Town 4-1 Amersham Town

THIS game went to form with third-placed Hoddesdon overpowering third-bottom Amersham on Saturday.

The Magpies remain out of the relegation zone on goal difference after this defeat against a strong and ruthless Town side who went ahead on 18 minutes when Ben Andreos tapped in from six yards out.

Amersham had nothing to lose and created chances to level with Scott Chapman seeing a fierce shot denied by Hoddesdon stopper Kieran Extence and Adam Toone seeing his lob go agonisingly over the bar.

They were punished four minutes into the second-half when Andreos powerfully headed in before the striker completed his hat-trick with an unstoppable drive on 62 minutes.

The Magpies never gave in and pulled a goal back with eight minutes to go when debutant Daniel Craggs poked in from a free-kick but the home side restored their three-goal cushion in stoppage time through a Dean Barker penalty.
