AMERSHAM Town hit a late winner to earn derby bragging rights and climb out of the relegation zone.
The Magpies hosted an in-form Chesham United Reserves side on Tuesday night but a win saw them move a point clear of the Spartan South Midlands Division One dropzone.
It was an entertaining game at Spratley's Meadow with David O'Connor seeing an early header come back off the post for the home side and Andy Viney having a fierce shot blocked for the visitors.
Chesham took the lead on 30 minutes when Viney bundled home a free-kick but their lead lasted just four minutes when O'Connor found his heading range and glanced a corner into the back of the net.
Both sides went for the win after the break but it was Amersham who were celebrating a vital win when Liam Thompson struck eight minutes from time.
It was also a good night for Holmer Green in the Premier Division as a second win in three days lifted them from danger.
A Dean Allen penalty put them ahead before Hatfield Town took the lead through Jay Welsh and Ryan North.
But three goals in the final four minutes sealed a win with Sean Donnelly netting a brace and Sean Christie the other for Greens.
