Vital win lifts Amersham out of relegation zone

IT WAS a game that Amersham Town dared not lose.

Buckingham Athletic visited Spratley's Meadow hovering outside the Spartan South Mids Division One relegation zone on Monday.

Amersham knew that a win would see them leapfrog their derby rivals but a 10-game losing run did little to instil confidence in the Magpies.

But they will hope to have turned a corner in 2012 after a brace from Karol Derewenko sealed a crucial 2-1 win.

It lifts them up to 19th in the table and two points clear of the dropzone.
