Amersham & Chiltern hopeful of new additions

AMERSHAM and Chiltern Rugby Club’s coach, Matt Allen, was presented with the Championship Trophy at the club’s annual meeting last week.

Former A&C chairman Chris McCombie, who is now the Bucks county chairman, did the honours.

Chiltern won the South West One South League last season – their third promotion in as many years – and are now preparing for their first season at National League level.

They say they will soon be announcing new names joining the squad, which could include some former players who want to return to the club to help out.

Chairman Richard Bobbett said: “Becoming the only National League rugby club in Bucks, apart from Wasps, is an immense honour but also a great responsibility for all 1,000 plus members and nearly 600 players of all ages.

“The club is also keen to welcome new members who want to play at this level, perhaps for the first time and several exciting prospects have already been recruited with more on the horizon.”
