Hednesford Town 3-2 Chesham Utd
TEN-MAN Chesham United slumped to their first defeat of 2011 despite a stirring late comeback at Hednesford Town.
The Generals were already 2-0 down when centre-back Rob Bartley was shown a harsh red-card for a foul on Decio Gomes on 58 minutes.
Hednesford took advantage to score a third minutes later but two goals in the last seven minutes by Paul Robinson and Danny Talbot made for a nervy finish.
Heavy rain had left the Town pitch heavy but playable and the home side took the early initiative with Chesham stopper forced to top away a Darren Campion free-kick in the opening exchanges.
They took the lead on 15 minutes in fortuitious circumstances when Alex Melbourne's mishit cross flew into the top corner.
Chesham saw Sam Ledger's header cleared off the line early in the second-half before they were hit with a sucker punch by Hednesford on 50 minutes.
A swift counter-attack by the home side saw Ross Davidson race clear, round Gore and tap in to make it 2-0.
Bartley was then given his marching orders before Nick Wellecomme headed in a Davidson cross to put Hednesford in a commanding position on 64 minutes.
But Andy Leese's side are not riding his in the table out of luck and showed great character to launch a comeback.
Robinson bagged his second goal in as many games when he headed in on 83 minutes before Talbot stabbed home a second in stoppage time after a Leon Archer header was parried but the Generals could not find an equaliser.
