AMERSHAM has been given the canine seal of approval as a dog friendly place.
Attlee the mongrel – known to his readers as Phileas Dogg Egon Bone-ay – visited the town with his owner, Jane Cooper.
His experience has been reviewed on what purports to be the only UK travel website written by dogs for dogs – www.phileasdogg.com.
Miss Cooper, a Londoner who got Attlee three years ago from Battersea Dogs Home, brought him to Amersham to visit a friend. While there, they went for walkies along The Chiltern Way and for a drink in some dog friendly pubs, including The Crown and The Swan in nearby Ley Hill.
Freelance journalist Miss Cooper said: “He would definitely come back, as he really enjoyed his visit. Amersham is definitely a dog friendly town.”
In his review, Attlee’s evidence for the town being posh include there being no chicken bones on the street, property in the Old Town being expensive, posh shops and nice pubs.
Evidence for it not being posh include Miss Cooper’s friend living there, Amersham dogs lifting their legs against lampposts like other dogs and the fact it has horses and cows, which Attlee concludes from conversing with them are not posh.
He gave Amersham 26 points in favour of being posh and 259 points against.
Miss Cooper said: “There are lots of dog friendly websites but none feature reviews and recommend places and days out.”
