A THEATRE is launching an exclusive members’ club to help boost funds.
Within the next two weeks, The Elgiva, in St Mary’s Way, Chesham, is expected to launch a new club called Elgiva Elite, which will offer its members a range of benefits including the opportunity to book shows before anyone else, no booking fee on card transactions at the box office, 50p off film prices and free use of the cloakroom.
The idea has been proposed by the Elgiva Board Management Committee as a way of bringing in some extra revenue for the theatre.
Chairman of the committee, Trevor Pilling, thinks the supporters’ club will prove to be popular, saying: “I’d encourage people to become a member and support the theatre and I think people will do once they know about it.”
He added: “We’re doing really well but it’s tough.
“But we’re selling tickets and getting people in and we want people to carry on supporting us. Chesham would be poorer without the theatre. It’s an asset for the town and I think it’s very valuable.”
Annual membership for Elgiva Elite will be £20 per person or £35 for a family or couple aged 60 or over.
