Furniture returns to Francis Yard

A CAFE that was in a legal battle with a neighbouring business over a piece of land has finally been given it back.

The Drawingroom, in Francis Yard, Chesham, got into a legal battle with Francis and How Solicitors, in East Street, over a piece of cobbled land, in Francis Yard, owned by the law firm that the cafe used to house chairs, tables and umbrellas.

The law firm tried to charge Richard Elkington, owner of The Drawingroom, £5,000 a year to house his furniture on the land but he declined due to him spending his time and money over seven years to refurbish the land. The argument was then taken to court and Mr Elkington was forced to remove his furniture.

However, Francis and How Solicitors recently sold its office in East Street and the new owner, Rodger Cole, has given the land back to Mr Elkington.
