School attempts to break a Guinness World Record

DOZENS of dancers took a break from their lessons in an attempt to smash a Guinness World Record attempt.

Seventy-two pupils at Little Spring School, in Greenway, Chesham took part in Big Dance 2012’s School Pledge Guinness World Record attempt for the Largest Dance Routine – Multi Venue, in which hundreds of pupils at schools across the country performed the same Olympic themed routine at 1pm on Friday.

Children at the school had been practising the routine for about four weeks and on the day a screen in the hall played a video of the dance routine to help guide them.

Proud headteacher Mary Paton said: “I think it was brilliant.

“The children have been practising really hard for about four weeks and I think it’s really good to be part of a big thing like this.”

More than 400 pupils from the Misbourne School decamped to their tennis courts for the Big Dance record attempt.

Teacher Asha Harding said: “It went brilliantly, we had 431 pupils all dancing and even the teachers took part too.

“Rebecca Perry, our dance teacher, did a fantastic job in getting them all together and organised and we wait now to see if we’ve broken the record.”
