Chesham’s new mayor has encouraged everyone in town to attend its weekend of jubilee celebrations.
Councillor Colette Littley is urging all the townsfolk to attend the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations in the town, running from June 2 to 5.
The celebrations have been organised by the Chesham Events Group and include activities such as a street parties, concerts, a fun run, beacon lighting and fireworks.
Mrs Littley said: “When we have things like a carnival, it’s nice when everyone shows up, so let’s make a weekend of it.
“I’m looking forward to it and I’m hoping for some nice weather. If it’s sunny the park will be looking its best. The flower beds are looking perfect.”
One of the events happening over the weekend is the Chesham Jubilee Town Centre 5k, organised by Chiltern Harriers, on Monday, June 4 at 9am. The race will start and finish in High Street, Chesham, and part of the money raised will be donated to Mrs Littley’s chosen charities, Chesham in Bloom and Chesham Environmental Group.
Entrants must be aged 14 years or over.
The race costs £8 for members and £10 for non-members and people can enter as individuals or as a team of up to four.
