Candidates for the Chesham by-election named

CANDIDATES running for a vacancy in a town council ward have been named.

Six people are competing to be the new councillor in Chesham’s Townsend Ward in a by-election being held on Thursday, May 24.

The by-election is being held after former councillor for the ward Liberal Democrat Gill Walker handed in her resignation notice.

Candidates running for the post are Phil Folly for the Green Party, Jim Bole for the Conservative Party, Nina Dluzewska for the Labour Party, Liberal Democrat Ruth Juett, Reg Amos for the UK Independence Party and Independent Marshall Hall.

At present, the town council has nine Liberal Democrat councillors, seven Conservative and two Independent.

Polling stations in the town will be open from 7am to 10pm.
