Amersham restaurant offers Valentine's memento

DINERS who sit down to a romantic meal at an Amersham restaurant tonight (February 14) will be given a specially carved wooden memento of their Valentine's night.

Couples at Artichoke will get the wooden trooks, which can be used to hang items upon around the house and are made from wood from Bucks' forests, as a Valentine's Day gesture.

Head chef Laurie Gear met craftsman Geoffrey Fisher from High Wycombe at a craft fair at Chenies Manor and asked him to design something for his restaurant.

Mr Fisher said: "Laurie really like what I made and thought it would be nice to give out gifts for couples to remember their evening by.

"I get tipped off by Bucks County Council about wood they've cut down, I collect it then carve these products - it would only go in the chipper so it's a great way of giving it a new life."
