HS2 protest staged outside David Cameron's country home

AROUND 750 HS2 campaigners took to the hills to take their protest to the Prime Minister directly on Sunday (July 10).

Following a three-mile walk from Wendover, protesters unfurled a sign spelling out '£33bn?' on the Chiltern Hills overlooking David Cameron's country residence Chequers.

The HS2 White Elephant Walk volunteers trekked to the residence near Coombe Hill before returning to Wendover.

Andrew Band, HS2 White Elephant Walk coordinator, said: "The aim was to attract much-needed media coverage and to try to encourage as many people as possible to take action in opposing the construction of HS2 by writing to their MPs, responding to the public consultation and signing the petition online."
