PUPILS from a Little Chalfont school donned their hard hats and spent a day learning about the building trade as they visited a local development site.

The 15 youngsters from Bell Lane Primary School, all aged between three and five, visited the Turner's Field development in the village and were given a guided tour.

Persimmon Homes' health and safety regional adviser Nick Bathurst talked to them about the dangers of being on site and they had a chance to get up close with a range of tools and building materials.

Headteacher Debbie Standage said: "The children gain in their learning from spending time in real environments such as this, so we were really pleased to be invited to the development.

"Our pupils had a great time and they all learnt a great deal about housebuilding."
