Our Camilla takes to the airwaves

EXAMINER readers can keep up to date with local news and views on our weekly radio show.

For one month only, reporter Camilla Goodman, will be taking to the airwaves every Thursday morning on charity station Radio Christmas.

And you can try your hand at radio presenting too - the public are welcome to volunteer as presenters and get involved.

The popular community radio station is back following 2008's festive success, which raised £16,000 for good causes.

The station will be running from December 1 until Christmas Eve in Grimsdell Lane, Amersham.

Founder Duncan Dyason launched Radio Christmas two years ago to raise money for his charity, Street Kids Direct, which helps high-risk children in Guatemala and Honduras.

Mr Dyason said: "It is going really well, I'm very impressed with the quality of the presenters. I really enjoy it, it's a great project that brings the whole community together.

"We are hoping to match if not exceed the £16,000 we raised last time. I have gone back to visit and seen what a big difference the money makes, it helps 200 children a day who would normally be living on a rubbish tip. Never underestimate the difference that money makes."

The station runs every two years from an outdoor music room in Nigel and Alexis Curson's house and this year has expanded and has two studios as opposed to one.

Mr Dyason has urged members of the public to drop into the studio and take part.

He said: "Anyone can get involved and drop in. Whether they would like to read the news or present a show, they should come in and talk to us.

"They don't need to have experience, hardly anyone here does."

You can catch Radio Christmas from 6am to midnight by tuning into 87.7fm, visiting www.radiochristmas.co.uk or by downloading the iPhone app.

Tune into the Bucks Examiner Hour with Camilla Goodman today (December 9) and next Thursday (December 16) from 9am to 10am.
