Pass rates go up at Chesham Park College

CHESHAM PARK COMMUNITY COLLEGE is continuing to raise its standards as A-level students achieved their best ever overall pass rate of 95.5 per cent.

Students at the school, in Chartridge Lane, Chesham, ripped open the envelopes containing their results today (Thursday) at the campus which was full of emotion as pupils discovered they had got into the university of their choice.

Star student, Sophie Gilbert, 18, of Nalders Road, Chesham, managed to rack up three A grades in geography, sociology and business and has been awarded a place at Leeds University to study business management. She said: "I'm very happy, the results are better than I had expected , I think my parents are going to be chuffed. I'm very excited to go to university to meet new friends and enjoy the whole experience."

Pleased student Simon Pagden, 18, of Nutkins Way, Chesham, has also been awarded a place at Leeds University to study physics after gaining two As and a C in maths, physics and music technology. He said: "I'm very pleased with my results. It was quite a lot of hard work but I'm looking forward to going to university."

Twenty out of the 30 students who had applied to university got into their first choice. Philip Miller, head of sixth form said: "I'm delighted with the results and that the majority of students got into the university they wanted, that was the key thing for me."

The school's average points was 583 and 33 per cent of the students received A – C grades.

Headteacher Mr Kevin Patrick said: "All of our students should be congratulated upon achieving these results. The many talented students that we have here have worked hard to achieve these grades."
