BUCKS County Council says that every view put forward to them in their consultation on proposed budget cuts will be taken into account.

Val Letheren (pictured), cabinet member for transport at the council, says she is pleased at the number of responses BCC has had to its consultation, and that all responses will be listened to.

The Advertiser quizzed Ms Letheren on the cuts and the issue of switching off and dimming street lights across the county.

She told us that if there was enough public outcry about the issue, then the council would rethink the plan.

She said: "I'd like to thank everyone who has taken the time to respond to the consultation and who has made their views known to us."We will take all opinions into consideration and make a judgment.

"We put the issue out to consultation because we wanted to know what people thought, and people have done that."

Ms Letheren reinforced her comments last week: "If there are enough people who don't want the lights turned off, we will not do it.

"If there is a huge public outcry on the issue then it will not happen. We will have to see what the results of the consultation are."
