Home News Keep the Lights On

Cabbies and cyclists join the throng battling to have the proposal dropped

TAXI drivers and cyclists are also behind our 'switch on the lights' campaign.

JJ, managing director at Cabco, in Broad Street, Chesham, said: "It's disgusting. Everyone pays taxes and I think 10,000 is a lot of lights. It could mean there are more accidents and what about people, especially women, walking at night? It's just not safe.

"We support the campaign to keep them on. I think the campaign is a great idea. We need to put a stop to it, but if everyone stays quiet then they will get turned off."

Brian Chapman, chairman of Amersham Road Cycling Club, has urged cyclists to back our campaign.

"The huge issue is the state of the roads. In daylight they are incredibly dangerous, and at night you take your life in your hands," he said. "This would make things even more dangerous."
