Just who will commute on HS2?

IT SEEMS curious to me that the government thinks that lots of people will be using rail travel for commuting purposes by the time the proposed London-Birmingham link is in operation.

Most organisations are seeking ways to reduce employment costs, and many are developing home or locally based working using video links and other technological solutions.

My son works for a US company from his home, and rarely needs to travel to the States, or indeed anywhere.

This is the way of the future and, I guess, in years to come, we will find it strange and maybe rather quaint that we all spent so much of our lives travelling round.

HS2 will be redundant - a true white elephant.
