Project deadlines for HS2

How will the HS2 schedule affect you? Below are the deadlines for various stages of the project.  

January 10, 2012: Justine Greening gives the go ahead to the preferred route through the Chilterns;  

2012/2013: Design work, environmental and route assessment takes place;  

2015: Hybrid Government bill to pass through Parliament for HS2 proposal to become law;  

2017: Construction work on the London–Birmingham route begins;  

2026: Phase one of HS2 set to open;  

2025-2035: Construction work on a Birmingham–north of England 'Y' route;
