It's unanimous, Chiltern Council condemns and deplores the Government's decision to proceed with HS2.
At last night's full Council meeting, councillors agreed unanimously to the following motion:
"This Council condemns and deplores the Government’s decision to proceed with HS2 ignoring the weight of responses against the scheme, the poor economic case and the minimal time savings from its implementation.
We call on the Secretary of Statement to reconsider having regard to the detail of the report of the Transport Select Committee and look again at less costly solutions, particularly RP2, and whether we need or can afford HS2 at all."
Chiltern District Council together with the other councils in the 51m alliance - 18 local authorities who have joined together to challenge HS2 - is now examining the decision and considering whether there are grounds for a legal challenge.
