Big improvement in GCSE results for The Misbourne

IMPROVING Great Missenden school The Misbourne were celebrating after their GCSE pupils followed the A Level students on the success front.

Head Robert Preston said: "I'm so proud of my students and staff, we're made a seven per cent improvement on last year.

"The students have worked so hard and really gone the extra mile - the hard work everyone has put in is unprecedented.

"To see the smiles on their faces says it all."

Sixty one per cent acheived five A*-Cs including maths and English and 72 per cent got A*-Cs overall.

Isobel Rigby, 16, got five A*s, she said: "I am absolutely delighted with my results - I wasn't expecting to have done that well!

"I am so thankful to all my teachers who have been wonderful and I'm now planning to do A Levels."

Fiona Stockdale, 16, who shared 18 As with her twin sister Fiona, said: "I’m extremely happy with my results - it shows what a bit of hard work can get you!"

Matthew Yeabsley, 16, who got two A*s, said: "I’m delighted with my results and pleased that all the hard work I put in and the encouragement and support given to me paid off!"

The Misbourne was placed in special measures by Ofsted last year but received a good report from the inspectors prior to the summer break.
