THE step-mum of cervical cancer victim Jen Goodridge has stepped up her campaign to raise awareness and funds for a leading charity.

Louise Goodridge has already completed several runs for Jo's Trust, the country's leading cervical cancer charity, and is now putting plans into place for a family fun day.

Jen Goodridge died last August aged just 24 and the Examiner launched the Jen's Final Wish campaign to raise awareness about cervical cancer after hearing her heart-wrenching story.

Since then Mrs Goodridge has taken part in half-marathons and fun runs across the south east to publicise the disease and has raised nearly £500.

On September 10, Amersham Cricket Club has agreed to host a fun day to raise more funds.

Mrs Goodridge said: "Jen's brother, David (Sidebottom), works at the cricket club and Jen's funeral wake was held there. Ian Rogers, the chairman was very pleased to let us use the facilities and it will combine with the last match of the season. We will be have the bar open for the day, there will be a barbecue, a Routemaster double-decker bus, face painting, a Zumba dancing demonstration and lots of summer stalls."

Mrs Goodridge, who ran the Penn Seven on Sunday (June 19), will also squeeze in a half-marathon and a 5km run in Wycombe prior to gearing up for her first marathon in Liverpool on October 9.
