Oct 27 2010 Buckinghamshire Examiner
THE Examiner is honoured to support brave young cancer sufferer Aaron West's bid to set up a goalkeeping academy despite being told he has just weeks to live.
The 16-year-old's determination, bravery and grace is truly inspiring and to see how he and his parents, Robert and Dax, are coping with such a tragic situation with such dignity is humbling.
The football-crazy Amersham boy who lives, breathes and sleeps the game was thrilled to meet his Arsenal heroes at a training session recently and his passion remains undimmed.
We would like to thank Aaron and his family for their co-operation on this heart-rending story and Wycombe Wanderers for supporting them through this difficult time.
We are now appealing to our readers to get along and support the charity match, which will hopefully kick-start Aaron's ambition of setting up a footballing foundation, at Chesham United on Sunday and help make this remarkable lad's dream come true.
Entry is only £1 and all donations will be generously welcomed to go towards funding the academy.
