ALL too often anyone who picks up a newspaper is confronted with doom and gloom. But we all love a story with a happy ending.

How heartening then, to read about the incredible work at The Chiltern Hospital's fertility clinic.

Many couples dream of parenthood and to enjoy the contentment of family life. But for some, nature can deal a cruel blow.

One in six couples will be unable to conceive naturally. The prospect of having their family dream shattered can be heartbreaking.

Many accept the sad news but others are determined not to give up on their dream.

Hidden away in its scenic location in Great Missenden, miracles are routinely performed by staff. So far the clinic has helped bring 100 babies a year into the world since its launch in 1996.

Last weekend, every child born as a result of the clinic's work was invited back for an annual party.

Look at the smiles on the faces of the parents on page 17 who know they owe it all to the dedicated staff at the clinic. We applaud them for bringing happiness to many hundreds of Bucks parents.
